Wildlife of the Gran Sasso National Park
The most interesting species of the Park is represented by the chamois, ungulate exclusive of the Apennines which until last century had its stronghold in the Gran Sasso. Direct persecution of ”chamois hunters” at the end it caused the disappearance of the last century. The ancient cultural tradition of the people of the park is evidenced by the numerousand elaborate craftsmanship, from the creation of tasty local produce and cuisine andfeatures from the local folklore expressions that still survive at the time, playing an important role of cultural and tourist attraction. For the craft, we highlight some of the most significant fact, as the potters of Castelli, the master saddlers of L’Aquila, the coppersmiths of Tossicia, the masons of Amatrice and the charcoal of Arquata del Tronto.
